SAPI CONSTITUTION

The South African Planning Institute was formed on 1 July 1996 following the amalgamation of the South African Institute of Town and Regional Planners and the Development PLanning Association of South Africa.

The constitution has clearly stated objectives, all intended to promote planning as a profession in South Africa, and to ensure that planners concern themselves with issues relevant to planning; it provides for a National Board consisting of a President, Vice-President, Honorary Treasurer, representatives from each of the nine regions, the immediate Pas President and three nominated members; it sets rules for members; provides for the establishment of regional committees of the Institute; sets out the planner's responsibility to clients and emplyers; and sets rules for Professional conduct.
