MPUMALANGA REGION

Message from the Chairperson

Firstly I would like to congratulate all the members who have been elected for the Mpumalanga Branch Committee. I am looking forward working together alongside everyone to ensure that this branch will go from strength to strength

Town Planning remains a dynamic and exiting field and this year will not be an exception. We are looking forward to the Planning Africa 2010 Conference, the FIFA 2010 World Cup and numerous other events. We are also looking forward to challenges we might face in the province and nationally, for example changing of legislation, provision of services and houses, new development concepts, and so on.

We as branch would like to promote the profession in the province and make planning known to the general public. With funds now available for mentoring it will surely assist in training Town Planners and ensuring that they stay abreast with the latest information and technology.

One of our biggest challenges will definitely be communication. Not only among each other but also communication between the Private and Public Sector to ensure that everyone takes hands in promoting the profession and not individuals.

Together with the Branch Committee we will strive to make this a memorable year

It is now four years since the first SAPI Mpumalanga meeting took place at the Belfast Golf Club on 18 November 2005. Can you believe we did not even have time to play that day?.....
